SEATTLE HUMANE'S NEW LIFE-SAVER RESCUE VEHICLES ARE ON THE ROAD! Thursday marks the arrival of pets from Eastern Washington rescue mission |
|
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: April 15, 2014
Seattle Humane Society welcomes the arrival of nearly 20 pets rescued from an overcrowded Eastern Washington shelter on Thursday, transported to safety using one of two new rescue vehicles funded by our donors. The press is invited to witness our Life-Saver Rescue Program in action when the pets reach the shelter at 2 p.m.
“So many pets are facing the end simply because they were born or surrendered in a community lacking the resources to care for them,” said Seattle Humane CEO David Loewe. “It’s been our mission to give these helpless animals a second chance. Now, thanks to the generous support of our donors who have funded these new vehicles, we can do just that.”
The vehicles will help us save and safely transport more than 3,000 animals to Seattle Humane Society this year, as part of our Life-Saver Rescue Program.
Chelsey’s Rescue Rider and Hammy & Henry's Hero Waggin’ were made possible with the support of hundreds of donors who contributed to the 2013 Tuxes & Tails Fund-A-Need. Painted orange and blue and covered with dog and cat photos, the vehicles have been named after beloved pets belonging to lead donors.
Chelsey’s Rescue Rider can transport up to 70 pets at a time and will be used on longer rescue trips to Eastern Washington and Los Angeles, and Hammy & Henry’s Rescue Waggin’ will be used locally and can transport up to 20 rescued pets at a time. The vehicles will conduct rescue missions several times a week. Each vehicle is climate-controlled and equipped with food, water, and medical supply storage to keep the pets happy and healthy during their journey to Seattle Humane.
Thank you to all of our generous supporters who have set the wheels in motion to save the lives of thousands of pets!
