FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: February 27, 2018
Seattle Humane announced it has been awarded a $200,000 grant from the Petco Foundation to support its life-saving work in Washington and beyond.
Seattle Humane has been saving animals and completing families since 1897, and the impact has been tremendous. In 2017, Seattle Humane provided care for more than 7,500 animals and 5,100 surgical procedures were performed in Seattle Humane's veterinary clinic. The organization also had several record-breaking adoption months, all while achieving a 98.61 percent life-saving rate, one of the highest in the nation.
The Petco Foundation investment will support Seattle Humane’s effort to save 10,000 animals annually within a few years of operation in their new facility that opened in December of 2017.
“This grant will give us the tools we need to continue our life-saving work, and take monumental steps towards bettering the future for animal welfare,” said David Loewe, CEO. “We can hardly wait to share the number of lives impacted by the Petco Foundation’s generosity!”

About the Petco Foundation
At the Petco Foundation, we believe that every animal deserves to live its best life. Since 1999, we’ve invested more than $200 million in life-saving animal welfare work to make that happen. With our more than 4,000 animal welfare partners, we inspire and empower communities to make a difference by investing in adoption and medical care programs, spay and neuter services, pet cancer research, service and therapy animals, and numerous other life-saving initiatives. Through our Think Adoption First program, we partner with Petco stores and animal welfare organizations across the country to increase pet adoptions. So far, we’ve helped more than 5.5 million pets find their new loving families, and we’re just getting started. Visit petcofoundation.org to learn more about how you can get involved.
