WALK FOR THE ANIMALS – A RECORD-BREAKING SUCCESS! Animal lovers raise more than $145,000 for the Seattle Humane Society
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: September 25, 2011
More than 1,000 animal lovers and their dogs gathered at Seattle Humane Society’s 9th annual Walk for the Animals at University Village Sunday, Sept. 25 raising more than $145,000 for the animals! These life-saving funds will help Seattle Humane continue to provide food, shelter, and medical care to thousands of pets in need in our community. Donations can still be made at seattlehumane.org/walk.
The top fundraiser in the 12 and under age group was Grace Nieman who raised $900 for the animals. In the 13 and over category Karen Elkin raised $1,900, and the winning team, the Pound Puppies, raised an incredible $4,195 for the animals! After the Walk, the celebration continued at FidoFEST – a celebration of all things dog that also benefited Seattle Humane.
Walk for the Animals was presented by Safeway and supported by Carter Subaru. Special thanks to KOMO Newsradio, KOMO 4 News, 570 KVI, and STAR 101.5!
