SEATTLE HUMANE SOCIETY BREAKS ADOPTION RECORD! Bellevue shelter finds homes for 624 pets in October
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: November 2, 2011
Seattle Humane Society found homes for 624 pets in October – a record-breaking high for the most pets adopted in a single month in the shelter's 114-year history.
The record-breaking month started with Seattle Humane’s "Fall for a Friend" promotion Oct. 7-9, in which adoption fees were waived on all pets at the shelter. The event was a smashing success, leading to 226 pet adoptions in one weekend. Best of all, more than one-third of the pets were older and harder-to-place pets who are now in loving homes of their own.
Oct. 28-31, the shelter celebrated its fabulous black felines by waiving adoption fees on all black cats and kittens. We found wonderful homes for 20 black kittens and 6 black adult cats in four days. This event was designed to showcase our ebony kitties, who are often overlooked for more colorful felines.
With a combination of creative promotions, dedicated staff, foster parents and volunteers – and our supportive animal-loving community – October 2011 is Seattle Humane Society’s most successful month on record!
