When and where is Walk for Animals 2017?
The Walk is Saturday, October 7, 2017, at Green Lake. Registration begins at 5:30 p.m., and the Walk starts at 6:30 p.m. The Walk will begin and end at the southern tip of Green Lake, near the Aquatheater and Small Crafts Center. For a street address, use 5900 West Green Lake Way N, Seattle, WA.
Is there a registration fee?
There is a $30 registration fee for each participant ($20 for youth). Each registered walker will receive a limited edition Walk tee!
How long is the Walk?
The Walk is approximately 2.8 miles around Green Lake. However, we will have a shorter walk available for dogs (and people) who would prefer that option.
Who do I contact if a donation does not appear on my fundraising page?
Email email@example.com with the name of the person who made the donation and the amount (if known). We can look up in our database to see if your page didn't get credited and add the donation quickly.
How can I help fundraise for this event?
Walkers raise money for the animals at Seattle Humane by asking for donations from friends, co-workers, neighbors and family. Our online Tips & Tools will help guide you through the process. Your online fundraising page will help you keep track of your pledges and your goal, or use a printable donation sheet. We send thank you letters/tax receipts to everyone who donates if their information is provided.
Can I bring my dog?
Please do! Friendly, leashed dogs are welcome! More than 1,000 dogs will be in attendance, so we do not recommend bringing other types of pets. We encourage you to create T-shirts, posters, or bring a photo of your pet for the Walk if you aren't able to bring them in person. Please do not bring dogs in heat and make sure your leash is no longer than 6 feet.
Can my children participate?
Only if they are on a leash. KIDDING! Walk for the Animals is a family-friendly event and children are more than welcome. If a child under 12 years of age would like to raise funds, he or she may register as a Youth Participant online or by printed form. The top 3 Youth Participants will be awarded a special prize!
I cannot attend the Walk, how can I still raise funds for the animals?
Attendance on the day of the Walk is not required — you can be a Virtual Walker! Register online and use the website tools to raise funds, or use a printed donation form. Send cash, checks and forms to: Seattle Humane, ATTN: Walk, 13212 SE Eastgate Way, Bellevue, WA 98005. You can schedule a time to come pick up your T-shirt or pay a small additional fee to have it mailed to you.
How can I get a Walk for the Animals poster to hang up in my office?
You can pick up posters at Seattle Humane, or have a few mailed to you, just email firstname.lastname@example.org with your company name and address!
What do I do with the cash and checks that I collect?
You can mail them to us prior to the event day or you can bring an envelope with all cash and checks to the Walk on October 7, 2017. If you receive cash or checks after the Walk, please drop off at our shelter or mail them in a clearly marked envelope to: Seattle Humane, ATTN: Walk, 13212 SE Eastgate Way, Bellevue, WA 98005. Mailed donations should have your name or team name written out clearly so we can properly credit you.
How do I print out my gift history list?
In your Participant Center, Click on “My Progress” located at the top right. Scroll all the way down to where it says “Gift History” and click on the “Print List” button on the right-hand side of the screen. Bring this along with you to the Walk as proof of your online donations.
Do I need to bring a water bottle?
Water and other beverages will be provided along the route for dogs and people. You are more than welcome to bring your own as well.
